Shannon Gilbert is a senior claims consultant with Aptus Risk Solutions, Inc., a workers’ compensation consulting firm focusing on litigation management, medical cost containment, and complex or legacy claim closures. She joined Aptus in 2014, after serving as a claims specialist with APi Group, Inc. in New Brighton, Minnesota where she provided oversight on general and auto liability claims across multiple operating companies. She also worked with adjusters and attorneys on complex claims and provided trend data and analytics for the development of safety and other risk management programs.
Ms. Gilbert, who has more than 24 years of claims management experience, has held a variety of positions in claims with major national insurance companies as well as the U.S. government. She was with The Travelers in St. Paul, Minnesota for five years, initially as RTW Workers’ Compensation claims manager and subsequently as a technical specialist responsible for managing high severity commercial liability claims.
She began her claims career with State Farm Mutual Automobile Insurance Company in St. Cloud where she became senior claims representative. Subsequently, for nearly 10 years, she was with the U.S. Department of Employee and Economic Development’s Disability Determination Services in St. Paul, eventually attaining the position of disability supervisor, responsible for managing a team of examiners and specialists and assisting with complex cases.
Ms. Gilbert earned B.B.A. degrees in Marketing and Human Resource Management from University of Wisconsin, Madison. During the course of her career she has been involved in several company-sponsored and professional association mentoring initiatives, and has served in leadership roles with a number of community organizations. She was co-founder and co-chair of the Ham Lake Fire Auxiliary and for several years has served on the board of directors of the Blaine Youth Hockey Association.
