Erin Ward-Dugan

ABOUT

Erin Ward-Dugan is the Legal Advisor for Aptus Risk Solutions and Managing Partner of Consulting for the law offices of Adelson, Testan, Brundo, Novell and Jimenez (ATB), the world’s leading workers compensation defense law firm.

Erin came to the organization with experience in worker’s compensation claim management and all areas of workers compensation litigation. Upon earning her law degree, Erin began her career as an adjuster with California’s largest insurance company, State Fund. Subsequently, she moved into private practice, representing both applicants and defendants in all areas of workers compensation litigation. She was rapidly promoted to supervising attorney, responsible for training and overseeing all new attorney.

Erin joined ATB in 2008 and was selected to serve on several of the firm’s most prominent client panels. She quickly became a favorite among clients, who valued her attentive and innovative file handling, communication skills and ability to identify opportunities to best manage and mitigate client exposure. Erin was recognized as a rising leader at ATB and promoted to Partner in January 2011.

As a result of her skill and unrivaled results, Erin was selected to become the Managing Partner of Consulting Services in 2013. In this role, Erin oversees services to a number of ATB’s largest employer clients. She is responsible for understanding the nuances and expectations of each program and strategically managing ATB resources to ensure that as a firm, they deliver optimal program results. Erin also serves on the firms audit team, focusing on claim and litigation management, including best practices, closure and issue specific reviews. She is frequently engaged for operational assessments, litigation management strategy sessions and litigation closure projects.

In addition to her varied consulting responsibilities, Erin continues to actively litigate cases and had excelled at identifying opportunities to reduce Medicare exposure, helping clients save hundreds of thousands of dollars. She also leads a team of ATB attorneys focusing on mitigating exposure through use of litigation management techniques.

Now Erin is bringing her strong workers compensation knowledge and experience to Aptus Risk Solutions as Legal Advisor.

Erin earned her Bachelors of Arts in Political Science and a Minor in Women’s studies from the University of California at Irvine. She also studied abroad for one year at the University of New South Wales in Sydney, Australia. She graduated from Southwestern University of Law, Los Angeles with a Juris Doctorate.
